SISS Tournament 2024

Welcome to the 2024 SISS tournament, hosted this year in Christchurch.

The dates for the 2024 SISSNA Tournament are: Monday 2nd September – Thursday 5th September.  All teams will be playing indoors this year.

Managers and Umpires are expected to attend the Sunday meetings following the AGM. Only the twelve players previously entered or those submitted as changes/corrections by the end of the managers meeting on Sunday 1st September can play in the tournament. As per the Combined Team Policy, combined teams may only play in C Grade. All forms and completion of these must be online. Please adhere to the expected deadline. All teams will be expected to provide a second set of registered bibs for the tournament. These are to be worn where there is a colour clash. Teams toss to decide which team wears the alternative bibs.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by Lee McKenzie is excited to be supporting the 2024 event. We look forward to bringing all games indoors for the first time in Christchurch, at the new stadium at Nga Puna Wai.

A couple of key things to pass on at this point in the  timeline:

  • Due to court availability, we can confirm that all teams (across A, B and C Grades) will need to be prepared to stay all day on Thursday. Games, including finals, will finish later. Please factor this into your planning for your team
  •  All schools are required to provide an umpire on entry. Umpires will cover games from their school for the first day, before being allocated to games for the remainder of the tournament. This is a decision of the SISS Management Committee. Please note the Local Organising Committee will not be in a position to find umpires for schools but ask that you contact your local centres to help support this.

You can contact the LOC on the following email:

Umpires

Umpires are a crucial element to the tournament’s success.

Each team is required to name an umpire to secure your entry.

An update from previous years, umpires will cover games from their school for the first day, before being allocated to games for the remainder of the tournament.

1. All teams/schools are financially responsible for their named umpire 2. All teams/schools will be charged $800.00 if they do not provide an umpire.

Please work hard to organise a suitably qualified umpire with your Local Netball Centre

NZ Secondary Schools Champs: Tuesday 8th - Friday 11th Oct, 2024 — Christchurch Netball Centre, Nga Puna Wai - Christchurch

Qualification for this event is via the SISS Netball tournament, where the top five teams from A Grade represent the South Island. As there is no official funding for teams to participate in this championship, SISSNA will again apply to the Lion Foundation for funding on the team’s behalf for accommodation support and make the bookings in Christchurch, NNZ will provide a letter of support for the teams for their funding applications. SISSNA will make this available to all A Grade teams once it is received.
